These engagements from Yosemite National Park in California are to die forrrrr. If I do say so, myself. As promised, here’s more context into the California Dreamin’ photography workshop I attended at Yosemite National Park in California.
Like I have mentioned in my previous post, this was one of the most challenging things I’ve ever done. Not only did I ship myself off to California to learn more about this newfound hobby, I did so all by myself. And stayed with a bunch of strangers.
To say I felt out of place in Yosemite is an understatement. I was questioning my decision about every 30 seconds. I have never felt so out of place in my entire life. Not only was I totally in over my head, I definitely had the least fancy equipment out of everyone. All of the other photographers had the nicest, newest lenses, and software–you name it.
Typically I would get in my own head and allow those thoughts of insecurity and doubt take over. But on the flight out I made a promise to myself that I would get the most out of the experience and so I forced those thoughts out of my head and just went with it.
I am so glad I stuck it out and really dove in. I learned so much not only about photography, but also about myself. I learned that I am capable of learning something new, trying something out of my comfort zone and I also learned that you can only feel inferior to others if you allow it.
I got some of the most amazing content I have shot to date and would hop on a plane to Yosemite at any time. It’s breathtaking! I hope to get back there someday soon. I want to go spend some time hiking and exploring around some more.
There’s definitely something to be said for a killer sunrise and sunsets in the Mountains. Enjoy some of the images below. There will be more content from this trip, trust me. 🙂
